So what is the relationship it has with the SyTy trucks? When the QuadraDeuce was built, an AWD system was set up using components from a GMC Syclone. It is equipped with a fuel-injected 406ci Chevrolet V8 engine paired with a Rossler TH700R4 four-speed automatic transmission. Car and Driver Magazine recorded a 0-60 time of 3.2 seconds and a quarter-mile time of 11.8 seconds at 115 mph.

Since being built, the QuadraDeuce has undergone some updates and changes throughout the years. In 2000, the roadster would receive major upgrades along with a fresh paint job completed by Rad Rides By Troy. In 2015, the roadster received a re-trimming of the interior in gray leather and adding a Sid Chavers removable soft top, Budnik 18” and 20” wheels, Baer six-piston brake calipers, a Lokar shifter, and Classic Instruments gauges.

This is definitely one cool roadster (and fast) with a documented history of its build and updates throughout the years. If you think you’d like to own this one of a kind rad ride, you can check out more information and pictures on Bring-a-Trailer where it is for sale.

]]>The post 1992 Pilot GMC Typhoon For Sale first appeared on International SyTy Registry.
]]>Along with the Pilot GMC Syclone, Mr. Mountain also owned 1 of the 3 1992 Pilot GMC Typhoons. Like the Syclone, PAS received these Typhoons and Mr. Mountain ultimately purchased one of them for his own personal use. The Typhoon owned by Mr. Mountain is truck #0010. The two other Pilot Typhoons are listed as #0009 and #0011 and their whereabouts are currently unknown.

The 1992 Pilot GMC Typhoon from Chuck Mountain is currently up for sale and is listed on Hemmings for bidding.
This 1992 GMC Typhoon—finished in one of the less-common color combinations offered in 1992—is reportedly one of the first 10 of these vehicles built, and it was the property of Charles Mountain, the former President of Performance Auto Services of Troy, Michigan, the specialty builder that constructed these special SUVs (and the Syclone pickups) for GMC. The selling dealer—a nationally recognized restorer and vintage car specialist—says that it has a “plethora of documentation that supports the car,” including the original Bill of Sale written by the President of PAS to himself. The vehicle is also transferred with “many classified documents that were never seen by the public.” The selling dealer refers to this Typhoon as “a running and driving project” that was under refurbishment when the original owner passed away.
Hemmings goes further to discuss some of the generalized history of the GMC Typhoon along with giving details and descriptions of the truck for sale. Overall the Pilot Typhoon looks as if it was mostly sitting while Mr. Mountain owned it. With just under 47k on the odometer and still riding on the original Firehawk SVX tires, we would consider this a lower mileage truck. We do see some surface corrosion in the engine bay and some very light surface rust on the underside of the frame, both of which can be easily cleaned up. The paint looks to be in good condition with a few chipped areas. The most noticeable exterior issue would be the missing cladding pieces on the driver’s fender and rear quarter panel, however it appears the truck does come with replacements. The interior does have some wear and tear and could use a deep clean. Overall, the truck seems to be completely stock and in overall really good condition. The official PAS documentation and extra goodies that come with the sale of the truck definitely help add to the value.
With Chuck Mountain’s Pilot Syclone going for $80,000, it is hard to say what the Pilot Typhoon will bring. We are unsure why the choice was made to list the Typhoon on Hemmings rather than Bring-a-Trailer given the successful sale of the Syclone. Our initial thought would be that the Typhoon may not get as much exposure now, which may be beneficial to the winning buyer. If you are looking for a GMC Typhoon and want a truck that has direct historical value and is one of the more rare color combos, this may be the truck to bid on! Good luck to those who are planning to make their best offer!
UPDATE!

The 1992 Pilot GMC Typhoon has been SOLD! Congratulations goes to Tom, the owner of Sportmachines who had the final bid to win the truck!

]]>Born in 1938, Bill Alsup was the first CART Rookie of the Year in 1979 and went on to compete in the famed 1981 Indianapolis 500 where he would finish 11th. During his career, Bill would make 57 CART and USAC Champ Car starts. While never winning a race, he ran a consistent season with Penske Racing finishing in 3rd place during three separate races and runner-up in the 81 CART Championship. Bill would eventually return to his team (Alsup Racing) until ultimately leaving Champ Car racing in 1984. Alsup died in a crane accident near Silverton, Colorado where he was a long-term resident on August 9, 2016.
Bob purchased his Syclone brand new out of White River, Vermont and it has been in the family ever since. With only showing 50467 on the odometer, the truck is still a stock original example with the only modification being the removed decals which was done at purchase, according to Bill’s son, Nipper Alsup. This is Syclone #2080.
Always treated with great care, always garaged and thoroughly warmed up before any boost put in the engine. Totally original.Clean title.
Right now the truck is official for sale at the going price of $37,500 which we think is fantastic for the mileage and condition. Nipper Alsup has noted that if he does not gain the interest within the community, he will be possibly go to BAT (Bring A Trailer) and post it up for auction. With how trucks have been selling on BAT lately, this may be a great opportunity to purchase a clean truck with a cared-for history at a bargain price BEFORE it goes to auction.

]]>The post Bill Bixby’s ex 92 Typhoon Sells first appeared on International SyTy Registry.
]]>Bill Bixby (January 22, 1934 − November 21, 1993), was an American actor, director, and producer, and frequently appeared in game shows. His career lasted over three decades on stage, film, and television. Some notable roles were on “My Favorite Martian” as Tim O’Hara, “The Courtship of Eddie’s Father” as Tom Corbett, and probably the most famed was, Dr. Banner in “The Incredible Hulk”.

Per Barrett Jackson’s description of the Typhoon:
Lot #345.1 – This car was purchased new at Thorson GMC Truck-Buick Motor Company in Pasadena, CA, by actor Bill Bixby, and was owned by his family until 2009, when it was sold to a private collector. This car is original and unmodified with 16,664 actual miles (title reads mileage exempt). The Typhoon is powered by a 4.3-liter turbocharged V6 engine with intercooler backed by a 700R4 automatic transmission and is equipped with anti-lock brakes and all-wheel drive. This car has had no previous paintwork and features a leather interior with bucket seats and an automatic shifter on the floor with a console. This Typhoon includes its original documentation and keys and has a clean CARFAX history.
In 2018, a 1993 Typhoon with 31k miles previously owned by Clint Eastwood went through Mecum Auction and was only able to bring $25,300. This brings up an array of questions of how there is a $35,000 price difference and if being a celebrity-owned truck plays any factor into value – Clint Eastwood wins the popularity award over Bill Bixby by a long shot, the auctioneers (BJ vs Mecum), the location of the auction, or time of year are some things to consider.
Overall, this truck looks to be a very clean example of a surviving low-mileage 92 Typhoon. The only major notable item we can see is that it no longer has the stock Firehawk SVX tires. We can only hope that the new owners continue to care for it and keep it in its state of mint condition.

Completed in 2010, the Syborg TT truck was a build that took over many forums and truck-related sites and magazines by storm when Marty McGuire, a well-known Syclone/Typhoon owner and historical enthusiast of the trucks took a beat-down 1992 Sonoma GT and transformed it into a show-stopping ground thumping beast of a truck. The Sonoma GT was part of the Sportmachine collection with the Syclone and Typhoon however did not come as fully equipped as its brethren with only having a standard the non turbo 4.3 V6 and a much more toned-down body cladding compared to the SyTy. The SGT did share almost the same interior as the Syclone with major differences being no embroidery on the seat headrests and a slightly different gauge cluster with a missing boost gauge due to a non-turbo application.
Nothing was spared when it came to customizing the truck from its twin-turbo V6 powerplant down to the detailed paintwork it wears. With only 806 Sonoma GTs ever produced in 1992, Marty took an already rare truck and skyrocketed into a one-of-a-kind truck.
Syborg Twin Turbo is familiar with auction blocks, having made a recent appearance on the stage. Back in October of 2018, Syborg TT was put through the Barrett Jackson Auction with a final bid of $44,000. Since its completion, Syborg TT has seen several ownership changes over the years.

ISTR was a bit surprised to see that almost immediately it crossed the auction block during the Dallas Mecum auction, it was put back on sale on Facebook with the auction bid winner! It is also been disclosed that it is already on eBay too with a starting bid of $49,000 and a buy it now price of $65,000. The price initially was set at $85,000 but has since been edited to $65,000 on the FB page.

Coming up for sale with Mecum Auctions is one of Clint’s former Typhoons. There is limited information posted as of now about the truck, but it is presumed to be truck #0195 which was found at a dealership in Florida in the early 2000s by ISTR founder Adam Ribakoff. Unfortunately, the truck disappeared after appearing at the dealership and being sold. Its whereabouts went unknown. It has been assumed that the truck stayed in Florida and was put into storage in a personal collection.
